Hello and welcome to the official website of the SOS brigade! Or, if you don't like roleplay, my second page about Haruhi Suzumiya. Here I will compile the more encyclopedia-esque information about the series
Here I will compile information about the series in a hopefully easy to read matter. For now it will include basic information, but i might update it with more obscure facts as I learn more about the series myself!
While
As you may see, this entire page is made to resemble the website Kyon creates for the SOS brigade in the show, which was also copied for the Official Website For The Haruhi Anime. While the upper part is just for novelty, below this you will find the actual content.
So now, let's start from the very beginning...
... the volumes of the light novel all had unique titles, with a consistant naming sheme, all a part of the Haruhi Suzumiya series...when it was adapted for an anime, they simply named it The meloncholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya, after the first volume of the light novels
All volumes of the light novel have been officially translated into English by YenPress. I've also gotten my hands on a fan translation supposedly from [Bake-Tsuki], which I may well read through sometime in the future, but can't comment on. It does include TL notes, which is pretty cute.
Regarding the Image downloads, I wanted to provide a simple way ... for anyone whishing to use them for reaction images or... whatever you want to do.
The images are ripped from a Raw torrent of the novels, with some images from the English release included.
The images in the English torrent are of a lower resolution, I included some from the English release for the sake of showing the English exclusive title cards and coloured pages with translated text.

While some don't know this, the Suzumiya Haruhi light novels got a short attempt at a manga adaptation before the long running one more people are familiar with. Illustrated by Mizuno Makoto (みずの まこと), it ran briefly from May to December 2004, only recieving one volume and 5 chapters before being subsided by the main Manga adaptation.
I find this adaptation quite intruiging, with how different it looks, both compared to the second series that came after it, and the illustrations from the light novels, especially with how much it supposedly strays from its source material.I haven't read it yet, it doesn't have a english fan translation as far as i know, in face, I couldn't even find a download for it. Just wait a few decades until I decide to learn japanese, and I may leave my thoughts on it here.
Suzumiya Haruhi No Yũutsu / , or The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya...
In this list, the episodes are orginized in the order they broadcasted in, with its placement in the 2009 airing put in parenthesis, for anyone who had downloaded the 2009 airing but want to watch it in its original broadcasting order

Well, should you watch it in its original order? For anyone already a fan of the show, it might be fun to experience both episode airings, but for anyone new to it, how they first decide to watch it might make or break their enjoyment of the anime. Broadcasting the episodes out of chronological order was a bold choice, trying to emulate the stories in the novels appearing in a non linear time sequence. However, the anime went further than the LNs mostly did by splitting up episodes in the same arc, which would be like each chapter of the first novel being scattered around the first few volumes.
As someone who first watched the series in its chronological order, I can't personally speak of how the broadcast order fairs for a first time viewer, even tough that would be how anyone watching it when it first released would have experienced it. I've heard opinions ranging from the original order being a fun time which sets the show apart, to it being a mistake making the show's story less effective and simply harder to follow. Overall it might be safest to first watch it in its later 2009 airing, and then try the first one out for funs sake.
Speaking off...
From April 3rd 2009 to October 9th 2009, Suzumiya Haruhi No Yũutsu was re-aried on japanese television. This re-airing featured 14 new episodes, adding up to a total of 28 episodes, and is often called Haruhi's second season. This time around all episodes were broadcasted in a chronological order, meaning the new and old episodes were all mixed together.

Suzumiya Haruhi no Chokuretsu / 涼宮ハルヒの直列 Is a part Visual Novel, part puzzle game for the Nintendo DS, based on the Suzumiya Haruhi series. It was developed by Cavia (株式会社キャビア) and puplished by SEGA, releasing on May 28, 2009 The game has only been officially released in Japan, but quite recently got a (work in progress) English translation patch, courtesy of of the Haroohi Translation Club. I have yet to play it, but I have it loaded on my DS flash cart, and plan to start playing it shortly after the translation is complete. I might write about the game and it's unique scenarios once i get around to it ^-^ | |
